Be a Part of Fort Collins' History by helping us recognize notable women in our community!
Will you help us reach our goal of 500 $20 donors by March 31, 2017? Thank you.
Zonta Club of Fort Collins has been approved to create an 'Art in Public Places' Women's Legacy Mural in Old Town Fort Collins. This mural will recognize women with ties to Fort Collins who have contributed to the fabric of our community. The mural will recognize 48 women total, 12 initially and to rotate in next 36 over two years time. The portraits will be created as 3-8 color woodcut prints, and then digitally printed onto laminate graffiti protected panels. These panels will then be installed in Old Town on the north side of Cooper Smith's Poolside Pub. Audio interviews of these leading women will also be posted to our website. We are grateful for your support!
We are crowdfunding this project on Dream Fund to recognize these amazing women in our community and our goal is to raise $60,000.00 for this phase of our art exhibit, to be able to initiate this art mural. We plan to have initial completed portraits in this art-in-public places exhibit installed in Spring, 2017. We will let you know when the official date is for the inaugural unveiling event.
Why is this important?
Not only will this art exhibit be beautifully made by Local Artist Rachael Davis, MFA, CSU but it will also have immense educational value. There will also be curriculum written from elementary to college level courses to coincide with the portraits of these women who have made a difference in our community. The purpose of the curriculum will be to educate our community and inspire women and girls in their own innate potential and possibility as they learn from these courageous women's life journeys. The mural will benefit the community greatly by adding to Fort Collin's identity of being a cultural center and tourist destination. We are promoting social good locally but spreading the message worldwide through the use of crowdfunding and crowdsourcing.
